Wedding Flowers On Cake

There isn’t any family or social event to take place in people’s life to be displayed without the elements that add a touch of color and vivacity to the atmosphere and in this respect, the event which uses the most the decorative elements is considered to be the wedding celebration. In organizing such events, couples put all their imagination at work into rendering their wedding ambiance the air of festivity inviting their guests in a world filled of colorful, decorative settings. The moment you step into this world the atmosphere swallows all your senses, you let your body and soul be penetrated by the excitement of a day that changes for good the life of two people. The excitement thus felt is encouraged by the floral decorations the couple uses in order to mark their invitees with the awareness of an act that is about to happen.

The thrill of such an excitement was transferred to me once when I attended to one of my friend’s wedding. The moment I arrived and stepped into the tent where the wedding couple was meeting the invitees welcoming them, I was pined with a small bouquet of tiny white silk-made roses on the left side of my dress. I soon noticed that every guest was wearing this delicate small bouquet as a distinctive mark on his/her attire. I was surprised to see that my friend’s wedding dress was not at all the traditional white, but a beautiful light blue dress, strapless with a stretch bodice to underline her bust and a rich bell shaped skirt continuing on the back side with a small train.

She had chosen as her wedding flowers the white roses that now made the object of the guests’ boutonnieres flowers, bridesmaid bouquet and the table arrangements, the latter including blue roses in the decorative style, the same blue that belonged to the bride’s wedding dress. The combination was moreover stunning since I had never seen before this color of a rose. At the beginning I thought that the table centerpieces are made of silk-made white and blue roses, but as I draw closer I realized that actually these roses were for real.

The image of this floral combination, made the decoration appear in a note of mystery rendered also by the flickering of the candles that were laid in the center of the floral arrangements. As the evening was almost there, and the dinner was already served it came soon to the climax of the reception table moment: the introduction of the wedding cake. And its appearance was indeed worth its name of ‘climax’ of the moment: a 3 tiers blue iced cake decorated with tiny white roses bouquets which resembled perfectly the ones we had pinned as boutonnieres (and if I had had the patience to count those roses I would have bet that the number matched exactly with the number of guests wearing the boutonnieres) and as a topper the bridal white roses bouquet prevailed over the entire aspect of the wedding cake.

My friend’s choice of wedding flowers on cake was indeed a symbolic reflection of the host (represented by the blue icing of the cake) who shares the happiest day of her life with her guests (represented by the presence of the white tiny roses as decorative elements of the cake). While eating the cake I congratulated her for this original concept of a wedding cake.
