Preserving Wedding Flowers

Choosing the best and the right flowers for your big wedding day is not nearly the most important issue on this matter. Preserving the wedding flowers is more essential and delicate as the process of buying a certain type and color of wedding flowers. Not so much for the wedding day ceremony and reception but for the years to come after the wedding night is over.

There are lots of companies and services that do this, by “injecting” the wedding bouquet or floral arrangements with a special elixir of life. The costs of these services are very high and not all brides and grooms allow providing their wedding flowers with the possibility and the privilege of a long-lasting life.

Preserving wedding flowers is a very delicate process, and it’s very difficult to be made at home. Some of the methods refer to a silica gel that can influence the drying process of the flower by immersing the flowers in some sort of sand made out of a silicon substance. The freeze-dryer is a more common solution among couples who want to preserve their wedding floral arrangements. This preserving process can be translated in keeping the flowers alive, full colored and still beautiful as the time passes.

Depending on the preservation method you choose for your wedding flowers, the prices vary from $50 to $300. For instance, a box with drying proprieties can reach $150, while a silica gel method of preservation can go around $300. To reduce the price and to pay less for these services, many couples choose to preserve only a steam or a bloom of the wedding bouquets. The reason for preservation of the wedding flowers is keeping the memory of the couple’s wedding day safe and unaffected.

There can be problems if the blooms are significant bruised, degraded, or if they are extremely dried out. That is why is very important to keep the wedding flowers in a safe mode, especially those who you plan to keep after the wedding. So, if the flowers are still extremely damaged, you can put them into a Styrofoam cooler, where you can add some gel packs to keep the flowers alive up to the company you have chosen to preserve your wedding flowers. You can also use tissue paper or wax paper to cover the pack, and to make sure that the bouquet is not in a direct contact with the gel.

Also you must pack the bouquet because you don’t want to move or disarrange the wedding bouquet at all. There are other ways to keep the bride’s bouquet in perfect condition during the wedding reception, by keeping it for example in a refrigerator or in a vase with a lot of water, far from the wedding room. This way you’ll avoid any possibility of alteration.
